15 ways to weave nature into your organisation

So many of us feel nature deeply.

But when it comes to making it matter in meetings, boardrooms, or procurement processes—it can be tricky...

In this post, you’ll find 15 ways to start weaving nature into business decisions, some are so simple, you can start today.

These insights came from our recent Community Connect events on Nature & Nature Governance, where we explored these four key questions together:

🌱  Where Nature connects with your organisations activities?
🌱  How are you making decisions? What are your processes?
🌱  How can you bring Nature in?
🌱  What do you need?

What we heard was clear:

It’s not that people don’t care about nature, it’s that they’re unsure how to make it land in boardrooms or show up in everyday decisions. So, we crowdsourced and co-created some of the first steps you can take right now.

Ask “What would nature say?”

Use this question in meetings, design sprints, and daily decisions to bring a nature lens.

Bring a nature object into the room

A stone, shell, leaf, or photo helps symbolise nature’s presence in decision-making spaces.

Use nature-based language in your comms

Shift from extractive to regenerative language: from “natural capital” to “living systems,” “resources” to “relations.”

Share what works

Tell short stories about nature-aligned decisions in team meetings, emails, or internal channels. Celebrate successes.

Post nature inspiration and insight in teams or social media

Share a nature adventure, reflection, case study, Indigenous teaching, or quote that reconnects colleagues to nature.

Block 30 minutes a month for nature reflection

Hold space with your team to pause, reflect, and ask how nature is showing up in your work.

Add a nature prompt to agendas and board papers

A single line asking “Have nature impacts been considered?” can shift focus and behaviour.

Use internal checklists or templates

Embed prompts into procurement, project reviews, or risk assessments that ask about nature.

Bring nature into reports

Include nature insights or case studies in your ESG or annual reporting.
